The global fight against climate change is intensifying with a growing acceptance that, despite undoubted progress, the global community is not doing enough to avert a climate catastrophe. In recent years there has been a push towards renewable energy and a greener future which has been reflected through a rapid increase in the investment of green energy.

It is believed that by 2050 demand for energy will have increased by as much as 30%-40%. This increase in demand must come from renewable and sustainable energy sources such as green hydrogen. Projected to play a key role in global decarbonisation Green Hydrogen is expected to be a primary source of clean energy for almost 20% of the global supply.

Traditionally, hydrogen has always been seen as almost the silver bullet of clean energy - high in energy content and the most abundant chemical element in nature. However, it was always heavily caveated with the fact that it has been difficult and energy demanding to extract.

Verdagy, a trailblazer in sustainability, has introduced a groundbreaking solution. The company has pioneered water electrolysis technology for large-scale production of green hydrogen, revolutionising traditional production methods. Unlike these traditional methods that emit methane, Verdagy's approach decarbonises hydrogen,

Verdagy’s CEO Marty Neese explains “The thing about hydrogen that is really unique is that when you use it or actually combust it, as you will, the end product is water”

This therefore eliminates its harmful properties and transforms the hydrogen production landscape. The company is able to generate green hydrogen on a mass scale by using electrolysers that are powered by renewable energy. Verday’s electrolyser technology is accelerating the adoption of hydrogen and will allow customers to reduce scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.

Another significant development is the increasing use of electricity as a renewable energy source. Utilising electricity allows for cost-effective production to meet high and low demand.

SPAN is at the forefront of this movement, having created an easy-to-use interface that integrates renewable energy into homes. This alternative aims to gradually replace fossil fuels as an energy source for households, providing a sustainable solution. The SPAN in-home smart panel allows homeowners to access insights on their energy production through their smartphones, replacing conventional gas meters and granting more control over energy consumption.

SPAN founder and CEO Arch Rao says "Our vision over the course of the next decade is to enable 10 million homes to make that transition towards being electric at its heart.”

The companies will help to make the world a more sustainable place and contribute to a better tomorrow, as TDK Ventures focuses on supporting and nurturing tomorrow’s industry leaders.
