Like many eight-year olds able to visit a production site, Riccardo Zanette was fascinated by what he witnessed at an MCZ factory during a visit in his childhood.

However, Zanette was visiting a family-owned facility alongside his grandmother, instead of an educational school trip with his classmates. That day, Zanette was told by his grandmother that he would one day help to run a family business that had been in existence since 1975.

‍

Despite that early prophecy, no-one within the family actively pushed Riccardo towards the business, with his father allowing him to make his own career decisions. However it was the presence of his father - Riccardo’s hero, that convinced him to enter the family business.

‍

The company - MCZ Group, is acknowledged as one of the leading European players in the field of biomass heating and has achieved its elevated position in the market through an innovative and intuitive approach to the running of the business.

‍

The group has developed a number of different brands and they are able to say - with justification, that they represent every type of use of domestic fire. The product range is extensive and provides customers with a choice of fireplaces, stoves, and range cookers.

‍

It is a formidable legacy and one that Zanette will look to nurture during his time as Chief Executive Officer. It is a role that he has prepared for by understanding - in great detail, how each department in the business operates and how it fits into the successful operation of the wider business.

In what represents a nod to the progressive qualities of the business, Zanette is determined to continue the modernisation of the company that began with his father. The elder Zanette decided that those below him in the company’s pyramid should be given greater responsibility for the running of MCZ; it is a change of culture that Riccardo is keen to continue. 

‍

On the manufacturing side, the company has always placed great importance on research and development and it has helped them create more environmentally friendly products (as the latest "Core" technology that reduces emissions by 40% compared to the most restrictive European standards). It is an approach that MCZ and Zanette are keen to continue pursuing, as they aim to play their part in the European Union achieving net zero by 2050.

To that end, the company will continue to promote the benefits of biomass heating, both in terms of positive environmental impact and domestic comfort. The three main renewable energy sources are: solar energy, wind power and biomass, and their use will need to increase substantially moving forward.

As the figurehead of MCZ’s new generation, Zanette will ensure the progressive steps made continue to adhere to the DNA of the company, which places an importance on never standing still and reinventing itself to meet the demands of the day.
