With an extensive international network of laboratories, the amedes-group is an important part of the global health sector. The group runs laboratories and practices at more than 90 sites in Germany, Belgium, Austria and Dubai. More than 4,000 medical and non-medical professionals work on providing fast and accurate medical analyses on a daily basis.
“Covid-19 testing was one of the main focuses in our labs in the last few months during the pandemic, but it’s not the only focus we had,” says Dr. rer. nat. Anna Teubert, Head of Scientific Staff, Molecular Diagnostics and amedes genetics. Besides playing a big role in the pandemic by analysing PCR tests and therefore advancing the fight against the spread of the coronavirus, a multitude of specialist and innovative applications come to use at the company’s different sites.
With regards to the Covid-19 pandemic, the amedes-group even managed to find a solution to sequence sewage to provide information about the spread of the pandemic. This contributed to an early warning system for infectious diseases on EU level.
To keep up with the ever changing landscape of medical procedures, the amedes-group puts a strong emphasis on the education and training of their employees, but also on training external partners in the medical field. Many amedes-doctors teach at universities to ensure young medical professionals are fit to take on future challenges and roles in the rapidly evolving health sector.
Besides offering swift and accurate diagnostics, the amedes-group uses its cross functional network and international expertise to drive research in important areas such as genetics or oncology. Thus, the network of laboratories and practices does not only help diagnose different illnesses, but also plays a vital role in prevention and early diagnosis of serious diseases. In oncology, for example, therapies can be much more targeted to the individual patient and easier to navigate thanks to analysis of the human genome.
“What makes amedes special is the collaboration of specialised doctors and colleagues in large practice centres all over the country with leading laboratories. This creates a framework of comprehensive excellence,” says Prof. Dr. Med. Kai Uwe Chow about the extraordinary structure of the company.
The amedes-group is working hard to ensure healthcare is improved on a global scale and fast, accurate laboratory analyses are used to diagnose diseases as early as possible. On top of that, the company develops new, innovative diagnostic procedures and products to ensure that patients get even more precise information about their personal health and procedures to improve their well being in a healthcare environment that is becoming more and more characterised by personalised medicine.
“We drive innovation. We develop our own products. We bring science to day-to-day medicine and we certainly continue to become even more specialised in areas of great medical need,” says Wolf Frederic Kupatt, CEO of the amedes-group.
